Minority Engineering Program

The Minority Engineering Program (MEP) is open to all students. It has been designed to focus on assisting underrepresented populations, such as African-American, Hispanic, Native American, and women students to pursue an education in the disiplines of engineering and computer science. The UNLV MEP was founded in 1988 and now enrolls more than 160 students. The program provides a wide range of student services including academic advising, tutoring, person counseling, and assistance in finding summer and part-time jobs in industry. The MEP regularly schedules speakers on topics such as motivation and career awareness. The MEP sponsors local student chapters of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE).
